First Team Debuts Update

In the first ever season of the Southern League Football Academy, it’s amazing to have

already had a first debut from one of our students.

On 12th November, after just under three months on the programme, Chesham United

student and academy side captain Josh Smith was named on the bench for Chesham’s Berks

& Bucks FA Senior Cup fixture against Newport Pagnell Town.

The 16-year-old made his first team debut as a second half substitute in Chesham United’s

3-1 defeat. Smith plays at the heart of the defence but has the skill and quality to also play

in midfield. He will go down in the history books as the first of hopefully many students to

make the step up into senior football from our Southern League Football Academy.

Another Chesham United player catching the eye of the first team is Blaaze Lawrence. He’s a

classy midfield maestro but he can also be a threat from the flanks and has the brilliant

ability to strike a ball so cleanly, as he demonstrates here scoring a worldie in the opening

game of the season.

Blaaze has signed first team forms for Chesham and was recently named on the

bench for their league cup semi-final against Needham Market.

We are immensely proud of Josh Smith for becoming the first ever SLFA student to make his

first team debut and we hope to see many more follow in his footsteps.
