MATCHWEEK TWO - REVIEW

Unfortunately, due to the amount of rain that fell all over the country last week, only one game was able to ahead in #MatchweekTwo of the SLFA season.

Rushall Olympic faced Swindon Supermarine in the only game of #MatchweekTwo. Rushall picked up their first points of the season in a 4-0 win. That win takes Rushall into second and level on points with Chesham at the top of the table.

With only one game being played, there was no #TeamOfTheWeek, but the highlights show still went ahead. Enjoy the full highlights and all the goals from the Rushall v Swindon game below.

The #MatchweekTwo game review of the week comes from Rushall Olumpic v Swindon Supermarine.

RUSHALL PUT FOUR PAST SWINDON IN THEIR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

In the only game that went ahead in #MacthweekTwo of the SLFA season, the home side Rushall could have been 1-0 up inside 2 minutes. A lovely chipped through ball into the path of Brad Fox opened up the Swindon defence. He found himself in an acre of space with the only the keeper to beat but he put his shot straight at the keeper. Fox followed up the rebound and managed to squeeze the ball past Louis Evans at the near post but the linesman had flagged for offside.

Both teams were very disciplined and organised in the first half and there was a real battle going on in the middle of the park. With neither side budging and few chances for either team, the scores were level at half time.

Half time: Rushall Olympic 0-0 Swindon Supermarine

The deadlock was broken early on in the second-half. A well worked move between Josh Sivorn and Brad Fox opened up the Swindon defence on the right hand side of the box. The ball was pulled back to a Rushall player who’s shot was saved from close range by Evans. There was no flag on the rebound this time and Louie Reynolds passed the ball into the back of the net, scoring Rushall’s first goal of the SLFA season. Rushall Olympic 1-0 Swindon Supermarine

Rushall doubled their lead straight after the restart after winning the ball back in midfield and starting another attack. Josh Sivorn was played in over the top and got to the byline before pulling it back to Brad Fox who made no mistake and fired in Rushall’s second of the day. Rushall Olympic 2-0 Swindon Supermarine

The home side had a third goal inside 60 minutes after the Swindon defence failed to deal with a corner from the left hand side. After some pinball action in the Swindon box where they couldn’t clear their lines, Josh Sivorn was on hand to tap it home. Rushall Olympic 3-0 Swindon Supermarine.

Sivorn had his second of the game and Rushall’s fourth just 5 minutes later. A deflected shot from the edge of the box fell to the on-coming Sivorn who managed to hold off a Swindon defender and slot it home. Rushall Olympic 4-0 Swindon Supermarine.

Rushall were unlucky not to make it 5-0 towards the end of the second half but Louis Evans was in fine form for the visitors, denying Rushall players two goals from point blank range.
