The SLFA is thrilled to introduce the latest addition to the programme, Peterborough Sports. The Southern Premier Division Central side have agreed to join the SLFA which takes the total number of clubs up to ten.

Peterborough Sports Chairman Grant Biddle said: "Our Club has enjoyed great success over the last few seasons and we have concentrated the majority of our efforts into the 1st team. However as part of our plans to grow the Club we recognise the importance of an Academy and it has been one of my priorities to reestablish an Academy which is sustainable. With a number of similar operations locally it was important to me that ours would stand out and therefore I was very interested to learn more about the relatively new SLFA.

"When I researched it and saw how it had operated and grown over the last few years within the NPL - and was now being replicated with the backing of the Southern League - I was keen to find out more. Having met the team behind both operations I am convinced that this is the best available solution for Peterborough Sports. It has a great reputation for academic standards alongside the opportunity to play against Academy sides at step 3 and 4 Clubs on 1st team pitches.

"The aim is to give the best young players in the Peterborough area the opportunity to join an Academy of the top non league side in the area and to see a pathway to playing at a very good standard of football. Our manager Jimmy Dean is well known for promoting and supporting players from the Peterborough area and would be delighted to see young players coming through  this Academy and joining our 1st team squad."

An SLFA Spokesman stated: "To have Peterborough Sports come on to the Southern League Football Academy programme is fantastic and we share the same aim in moving forwards together with the academy. We are looking forward to seeing Peterborough Sports Academy start in September 2020."
