SLFA Player of the Month - January/February

Congratulations to Swindon Supermarine student Jay Haydon who has been named the

SLFA ‘Player of the Month!’ for January/February. Read all about what Haydon and the

other nominees have achieved over the past two months.

Enes Muca (Sutton Coldfield Town Football Club), Ryan Scrivens (Chesham United Football Club), Jay Haydon (Swindon Supermarine) and Ethan Pearce (Sutton Coldfield Town Football Club) were all nominated for January/February ‘Player of the Month!’.

Enes Muca – Midfield – Sutton Coldfield Town Football Club

The Holding midfielder and enforcer in the Sutton Coldfield midfield, Muca has enjoyed a

brilliant run of form over January and February. His team is unbeaten in the four games they

have played since the new year, winning three games and drawing just the one to

Kidlington. Muca was also named in the #TeamOfTheWeek for #MatchweekFourteen where

his rock solid display helped his side beat Yate Town 3-2 and also was named as ‘Player of

the Week!’ in #MatchweekEleven.

Ryan Scrivens – Midfield – Chesham United Football Club

Scrivens has been in great form in January and February. His Chesham United side have

been tough to beat over the past couple of months, claiming six points from five games

since Christmas in the form of one win and three draws. The Chesham vice-captain plays at

the heart of the midfield and is commanding on the ball. He is the type of midfielder that

can put his foot in and isn’t scared of a tackle but can also produce some quality. Having

started out as a goalkeeper in the earlier months of the programme, Chesham United coach

Gary Forde thought he could be utilised a lot better outfield and has taken to his new

position very well.

Jay Haydon – Midfield – Swindon Supermarine

Swindon Supermarine are another SLFA team that has remained unbeaten since the new

year, after beating Chesham United and also drawing with Kidlington and Chesham United

on a separate occasion. This could be largely down to the fact that Jay Haydon is back in the

squad after suffering a broken collar bone in #MatchweekOne of the season. Since coming

back from injury, Haydon has picked up two ‘Player of the Week!’ awards

in #MatchweekThirteen and #MatchweekFifteen. He is a very talented central midfield

player who moves well with the ball at his feet but can also slot in at the back to cover his

team as he did in #MatchweekThirteen. Swindon Supermarine coach, Kerry Walklett always

speaks highly of Haydon and was impressed with his attitude after his frustrating time out

with an injury.

Ethan Pearce – Midfield – Sutton Coldfield Town Football Club

Ethan Pearce is the first returning ‘Player of the Month!’ nominee in the SLFA, having been

on the shortlist for September/ October. Pearce was first being played as a defender but

after impressing his coaches with his great attitude, silky skills and quick feet has since been

moved forward into midfield. The first-year student has helped his Sutton Coldfield Town

side remain unbeaten in 2020 and they sit proudly at the top of the table. Pearce has been

playing brilliantly in January and February, and his coaches have definitely noticed. He was

included in #TeamOfTheWeek in #MatchweekTwelve and #MatchweekFourteen as well as

being nominated for ‘Player of the week!’ in #MatchweekTen.
